The United States Defence Security Cooperation Agency stated that the US State Department gave approval for selling 12 F-35B fighter jets to Singapore in a deal worth more than $2.75 billion.

The release added that "the Defence Security Cooperation Agency delivered the required certification notifying Congress of this possible sale today."

Last month, the US aerospace company Lockheed Martin announced that it finalized the delivery of 134 F-35 fighter jets in 2019, topping the joint government and industry delivery goal for this year that stood at 131 aircraft.
